New RED Standards
of Cybersecurity
The new RED cybersecurity standards (EN 18031-1, -2, and -3) will become mandatory in the EU starting August 1, 2025. They apply to internet-connected radio equipment, including smart toys, wearables, routers, and devices that handle personal data or digital payments. The standards introduce clear requirements for data protection, secure design, and resilience against cyber threats.

New Construction Product Regulation
The new Construction Products Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 replaces the previous CPR (305/2011) and introduces a stricter, digitalized framework for construction products.The regulation applies to many construction products placed on the EU market, including concrete, steel, insulation materials, glass, and building components. It mandates environmental data disclosure, digital product passports, and enhanced sustainability criteria alongside traditional technical performance requirements.

New Toy Safety Regulation
The EU Toy Safety Regulation (EU) 2025/2509 repeals the previous Directive 2009/48/EC (TSD), establishing what the EU positions as the world’s strictest standard for chemical toxicity and physical safety in toys. It entered into force on January 1, 2026, and will be fully applicable from August 1, 2030. The regulation applies to all toys placed on the EU market, including connected toys, smart dolls, drones, slime products, and any product designed for children under 14 years.

New AFIR and ISO 15118
Europe is standardising how EV (Electrical Vehicle) charging must work. With the new Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) and ISO 15118, chargers must talk to the car, authenticate users automatically, enable smart charging, and be ready for Plug & Charge and V2G.

Safety Regulation
The new EU Machinery Regulation (EU 2023/1230) replaces the previous Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and aims to better address emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, autonomous machinery, and the Internet of Things (IoT). Key changes include stricter cybersecurity measures, mandatory digital instructions, and more robust conformity assessments for some categories of machinery.

The new EU Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act) establishes the world’s first comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence. Key provisions include risk-based classification, stricter obligations for high-risk applications, and transparency requirements to foster trust and accountability in AI technologies.
